Hi to everyone who was just at the webinar! I noticed a question that I didn't get to answer about my own transition and how I made my way from being an academic political scientist to setting up my business as a leadership coach/consultant. I'd be…

This post has certainly given me food for thought! Gosh, I still have Erin Pizzy's, Scream Quietly Or The Neighbours Will Hear, on my shelves! No offense to that wonderful woman but I bought it in the 70's. I'm going to give away a few at a time. I…

HI Shari, I am interested in hearing you speak, I have been writing on different subjects for awhile, although not getting paid. I know there is some support on the web such as Elance and other sites in which you have lay money out first before you…

I've been...slowly...reviewing my shelves over the past year and sending them out using BookMooch. The beauty of BookMooch is that you get points for sending a book away (for the cost of Media Mail postage) and you can request a book from another pe…

Oh what an excellent post! I'm just starting to very slightly get a grip on this idea - mainly under pressure from the idea that I'm heading to Australia for a year to spend time with my husband's family, and whatever hapless individual winds up hou…

Thank you, Shari, for such a thoughtful post. As a sidenote, as Cris' comment here reminds me, one person's discarded books (qua sense of self) are another's treasure, and trigger for reinvention. How cool would it be to establish a book exchange s…

Interesting. I clean out my bookshelves once or twice a year, but I realized as I read your blog that I've been hanging on to a certain part of my past--that is, my life as a yoga teacher. I stopped teaching two years ago when I found that it interf…

Clearing the Shelves

I spent a good part of last weekend clearing my shelves of books to give away to Good Will. This was long overdue, but until that moment, I had been unable to do it, even though i haven't touched many of those books for years, if ever. At least 85% of my wall of books was devoted to past professional eras --a vestige of sorts, of my life as an academic specialist on international relations and the former Soviet Union. Thanks for the inspiring webinar today, Shari. I've only recently begun thinking about expanding my business to coaching as well as writing, and your presentation clarified where I need to go from here. I'm excited about this new challenge!

Hi Shari,
I just wanted to say thank you for the wonderful webinar! I had to leave just as you started Q and A, but you've inspired me to pursue new and profitable paths with my skills as a writer. There will be many hours of mulling and thinking and planning before I get anything underway, but I'm looking forward to it.
Many many thanks,
Victoria S.

Shari,
I just read a couple of posts of your blog and it seems that you are a very keen observer and question the changes of this world and want to discuss it even further to judge if its finally good for this unsettling and ever changing world.

My cousin, Em, doesn't see it. She sees a plain face, limp hair, fat rolls, etc. But to me she's beautiful, and maybe I'm biased, but she's the most beautiful woman I've ever known or seen. It's because she's the sister I never had, my sister in Chr…
