Shay also doesn't seem to know that "a lot" is two words. How is it that these 19 playwrights were good enough to qualify for the award, but not good enough to win? Something is fishy here.

Sharon,
Thanks for your thoughtful comment on my post about self-promotion. I should have said (and will say in my column tomorrow) that those who need to be here quietly and soak things in -- for as long as they are here, or for while when they are new -- are greatly appreciated on She Writes and are also using the site the right way, "right" being what's right for them. My post was aimed more at some who have been cutting and pasting generic messages about their work all over the site without taking the time to get to know others here -- not people who have the confidence and good sense to share news about their work with this high-powered and passionate group, while also contributing by reading/commenting/discussing other She Writers' work. (Like you.) :)
Glad you are here,
Warm best,
Kamy

Hi Sharon. Thanks for introducing me to Smashwords; I didn't know it existed. I myself have had no luck on Scribd, and am disappointed in it...amazed that you managed to get $50 out of it, that's a good sign!

I will buy your Pensees Dangereuses when my next paycheck comes in. I'm always interested in thoughts about writing, and depression. Yes, it is a weird thing to be a struggling writer...a fluctuating state. Too many rejections, and you start to think about throwing in the towel. I know for me, my phases of "luck" and "acceptance" go in cycles and it all seems rather arbitrary.
