Hi Sharon, I'm in a similar boat. I'm not sure at what point you should start shopping. It seems like it depends on a lot of factors including how many readers you have and how large your platform is (depending on the book your writing).…

I'm well into my book - now what?

Hi fellow bloggers!I'm well into my book now. I'm wondering at what point should I start shopping around for an agent and/or publisher? I live in Ontario - not sure if things are markedly different between Canada and the US.Any advice would be appreciated!Write on!Sforsharron@rogers.comwww.fashionista2passionista.comSee More

What's Your Adventure?

Ah, adventure. For me, the word conjures up visions of Roz Savage, George Kourounis, Bear Grylls, and so many more before them and since them who have not so much ventured outside their comfort zone as jumped without a parachute. I find myself following their exploits with great interest. An armchair explorer, I PVR their shows or follow them on Facebook and Twitter to keep up with what they're up to. And they never disappoint. One minute Roz is in some country I've never heard of, the next…See More

No Pain No Gain

When it comes to working out, the adage is "No Pain No Gain". While it might not be necessary to be howling in agony (in fact that's probably a really bad idea), certainly we need to move to, at the very least, discomfort. We need to work past our comfort zone in order to move to the next level. An adage I try to live by is Work Hard, Rest Hard, Play Hard. Those six little words help me remember to keep balance in my life. In fact, that is the theme of the book I am writing. Having spent my life…See More

True Fromance

A few years back, some canny soul coined the term “TomKat”, and a fad was born. But no, it wasn’t a fad. Today, people are portmanteauing all over the place. Portmanteau is the very dignified term used to describe combining two words to form a new one. And so, it is in that spirit that I created the term fromance. Thinking myself quite clever to invent such a catchy new word, I set to work on this piece, only to discover that fromance has been in the urban dictionary for some time. Oh well, I…See More

Joy is Highly Underrated

You know, back in the day when I was working three jobs just to buy Kraft dinner, I didn't really have time for joy. I didn't really have the capacity or the head space to follow my bliss. (Whenever I use the expression "follow my bliss", I feel I should have long, flowing hair, wear a long, flowing caftan, and spend my days making crafty shit out of pocket lint. I should be Aunt Meg from Twister - wasn't she fabulous?) When you're in survival mode, everything but what is absolutely necessary…See More

Taking the time to revamp my life - in 9 days!

Hi fellow Shewriters,I have taken a week off of my corporate job to spend the week viewing my life under a microscope to ensure I'm on track. I've been chronicling my progress in my blog at www.fashionista2passionista.com (soon to be a book). Here's a sample from yesterday's post:So you've taken a little time out and given some thought to your bucket list. 9 Days to Revamp Your Life. Day 1: Where Are You?

Well, dear readers, the time has come to shit or get off the pot (for me; I don't know about you). The time has come to make the changes that will get me where I want to go. How many times have you told yourself "As soon as.... then I'll.....". How many times have you let your life get in the way of your life? How many times are you going to hit the snooze button on the alarm clock of your dreams? Okay, that was lame, but you get the idea. For me, I have decided to no longer hit the snooze…See More
