Do I need written permission?

Thanks Catana; I've been on the fence about it. After doing a google search of the show, I discovered the questions were not originally from the host or sponsors. The person from whom the questions…

I wonder why nobody has answered this. My guess, and it's only a guess, is that you would have to ask permission. If the questions are always the same and part of the show's format, then using them for a book for which you would presumably earn mone…

New publications now available online.

Hello Shewriters;

Here is a list of my books available at www.lulu.com and can easily be found by typing 'Sherelle Wallace' in the search box. Unfortunately, 'A Slice Of Paradise' as an individual book didn't come up in my last search of my name, so you might have to do some extensive searches for it. Keywords are romance, bahamas, wallace. Hope you can purchase a copy and enjoy! I've included some of the reviews for the books in this post.

Seeking publisher for short story.

It was a spectacular Sunday morning. I had popped a DVD into my laptop and pressed play. I needed inspiration from a great story to boost me through cleaning the offices of Enchantment. Although I’m a bit of a neat freak; as in I believe in “a place for everything and everything in its place”, I must admit I HATE cleaning. It’s just so boring. And in a few weeks, or months in my case (because I live alone and can honor previous quote) you have to do it all over again.

As the play version of Tyl… Continue

Book launch. Part 2

November 28th, 2009.

After months of preparations and anticipation, the fair finally arrives. Let’s get the bad news out of the way first, shall we? My earnings from the sale of my books covered the cost of operating my space, and the price of my lunch! I was very disappointed, and now have to look for a plan B for surviving as an entrepreneur at this time. I was amazed that I did much better one on one by taking my work to individuals and having them purchase right away or place an order.

Hav… Continue

Book launch. Part 1

November 18th, 2009.

Last month I left a comment of encouragement for Beth Hoffman, who shared that she was so nervous about the pre-release of her book. My advise was to do all she could do, then just breathe. I added that I also had a book launch coming up, and that I hoped I would be able to follow my own advise. I’ve read numerous posts on various forums, about how nerves can get the best of writers; a writer has so much riding on a publication or launch, which makes each case one of panic… Continue

Hi Sherelle, I'm so glad to see you're still out there in cyberspace. The next interview, I'll definitely tell the story about my publisher, and my contract. If people aren't bored with it by then ;-)

Sherelle, thank you for your wonderfully kind comment! I'm so glad you enjoyed the blog talk radio interview. It was a lot of fun (though I was very nervous!).
I love that you get writing inspiration from soaps-- we need all the inspiration we can get. And don't beat yourself up about lounging on the couch-- we need downtime too!
All my best to you!

LOL - Thanks for the comment and blog visit, Sherelle. That's the age of technology (twitter included); because we don't see what one doesn't write, we can feel pretty intimately connected to them from what they do write. I find myself feeling the same way about the ppl on my blogroll (well - most of whom are family members, lol), particularly if I connect with someone's sense of humor. My husband wonders why my writing isn't more lighthearted or comedic. Go figure. Feel free to leave comments on the blog, btw, you're always welcome.

Hi Sherelle,
Thanks for your encouraging note! As for the promotions, it's basically just been my publisher setting up readings, and then me trying to rally friends to come out... I just came back from two readings in SF, and 1 in LA, which were definitely informative. With each one, I realized how to get more people out -- in some instances it would have been as easy as having a chalkboard on the sidewalk saying there'd be a reading, and free drinks, that night -- and what a need there is to involve the internet, and sites like She Writes, in getting readers... With publishers having so little money these days, there's a lot of work to do, but i'm encouraged that there are tools out there, if we can figure out how best to use them.

What about you? Have you figured out good outlets for promotion?

Such a pleasure to meet you!
