Hello Shewriters; I need your help on this one ASAP!: When writing fiction short stories, what are the rules concerning celebrities as characters, including speaking, acting, etc? It was a spectacular Sunday morning. I had popped a DVD into my laptop and pressed play. I needed inspiration from a great story to boost me through cleaning the offices of Enchantment. Although I’m a bit of a neat freak; as in I believe in “a place for everything and everything in its place”, I must admit I HATE cleaning. It’s just so boring. After months of preparations and anticipation, the fair finally arrives. Let’s get the bad news out of the way first, shall we? Thanks for your encouraging note! As for the promotions, it's basically just been my publisher setting up readings, and then me trying to rally friends to come out... I just came back from two readings in SF, and 1 in LA, which were definitely informative. With each one, I realized how to get more people out -- in some instances it would have been as easy as having a chalkboard on the sidewalk saying there'd be a reading, and free drinks, that night -- and what a need there is to involve the internet, and sites like She Writes, in getting readers... With publishers having so little money these days, there's a lot of work to do, but i'm encouraged that there are tools out there, if we can figure out how best to use them.

What about you? Have you figured out good outlets for promotion?
