January 22, 2010 from 6:30pm to 10pm
Come out and support local artists and the Child Development Support Corporation as we build a community arts center in Central Brooklyn. Artwork for sale $25 - $500. There will be live music, food, wine & after party. Free to attend - this is a fundraiser - Walk with your checkbooks. We'll have a great time for a good cause!

Last evening I went to a book signing for Elizabth Nunez' newest novel, Anna In Between. It was a book signing/Christmas celebration and there was food there. Lots of it. This should be the least important fact coming out of such a beautiful and intellectually stimulating evening - but I'm a self-diagnosed food junkie. I love food and I love to eat. “Day five and I’ve taken a dive!” Well, it’s really day six, but I can’t think of anything that rhymes as well. Anyway, it was only the beginning of day six of this new year when I stuffed myself silly at breakfast. For the last few days, I’ve been eating within my caloric range and enjoying that “not too stuffed” feeling. It’s almost like I can feel my waistline wanting to come back. I was running through this theurgic dream, unaware
What was chasing me was the most hideous fear
Though others were present, I felt all alone
Too afraid to face this ominous unknown
It was coming fast with shame, pain and despair
My insides in pieces, I still whispered a prayer
Anguished bungling feet quickly steadied by hope
I refused to look back, to give up or to mope
Hastily sipping drops of faith and trust
