Date Therapy for Valentine's Day on the Way

It’s a never ending story…People fall in and out of love. It’s a merry go round unless you can’t get onto the carousel and have to watch as a by-stander from the outside. In spite of our ever increasing socializing opportunities and networking possibilities, it doesn’t seem to get easier. Many websites catering to singles and their needs offer dating advice. Historical records name Dresden, Germany as the first in 1434.Now they are a staple celebration of Christmas traditions drawing millions of visitors in the four weeks, Advent, leading up to the fest in…See More

Thanksgiving-- from the Perspective of a “Blow-in"

Thanksgiving is a uniquely American and Canadian tradition. In Germany, where I grew up, I only knew it from that Thanksgiving Sunday in early autumn in the Catholic Church where thanks is given for a good year’s harvest. Some crops are brought in and put on display under the altar to be blessed. Ireland where I also lived hasn’t adopted this American holiday although it tends to follow American trends in many other regards. So my exposure to American Thanksgiving is fairly new. It was only…See More

Lock it in!

Valentine’s Day, synonymous with love and romance, is once again bombarding us with all things red and pink remotely associated with amore and desire. Sandwiched between Christmas and St. Patrick’s Day, it is one of the most commercialized days of the year. A frenzy that takes hold of the country every year leading up to the 14th of February:  from cards to flowers, teddy bears to underwear, chocolates to jewelry, and not to mention red…
