Critique Anxiety

I've been having a bit of what I call Critique Anxiety.  Yes, from going to art school, I'm very use to crits. I can't even count how many I've had.  I think they bother you the most or shall I say the prospect of them bothers you the most when you feel most vulnerable.  When grounded and sure of yourself a critique is really a piece of cake.  My recent blog post on my personal blog goes into Critique Anxiety for artists and writers, how you can move through it and come to a better, more…See More

Writing as Mystical Journey

Okay! I admit it.  I'm a nonfiction writer.  I've had 5 nonfiction books published but within all of them are stories.  Now story has taken hold of me and I am on a mystical journey towards fiction.  I am workshopping my new (in development) novel and am working with an editor on getting a chapter by chapter analysis. I see no reason that a nonfiction writer cannot write compelling fiction. My Goddess, I never realized the challenges of fiction writing or creating a novel.  I have written a…See More

Writing and Art

I've promised myself I'd blog for 30 days in a row and I'm still going strong.  This enhances my daily writing practice and has helped me become more disciplined. I usually do the blog writing at sunrise and this time I was listening to blues as I wrote which is very inspirational. Today when I woke up I decided to write about bringing together art and writing in the form of an artist's book.  I have found over the years that I typically separate the two disciplines.  Devoting large chunks of…See More

Journey into Holistic Creativity

This holiday season I am giving a different type of gift. This gift is for anyone interested and it is also personal.  Instead of having my different types of creative expression so separate from one another I've decided to spend the next 30 days blogging every day about artmaking and the creative process. This blog is my virtual writing and art studio.  An inspirational virtual space where the two art forms meld and blend.  Join me on this 30 day visual and literary journey here:…See More

In Support of a Mother Writer, review for "The Book of Obeah"

I discovered this book by a fellow Mother Writer and wanted to let you all know what a terrific book it is. It has not yet been released but is available on amazon.com and barnesandnoble.com for pre-order. Check it out and support Mother's and Women who also write.Hailing from suburban North Carolina, Melody is thrown into, what is for her, the mysterious and exotic world of voodoo by her Grandmama, a white practicing voodooist. Melody encounters many well developed characters along her journey…See More

Sacred Garden for Conjuration

I love gardening, but tending plants is an opportunity for growing more than fruits, vegetables, flowers, and trees in a mundane way. In gardening each year, I learn a little more about my "self" and the environment, community, state, region, ancestors, and deities that surround me. I call these activities two things: sacred gardening and conjuration. Together they help me build a sacred garden for conjuration, an activity I would like to share with you.I am a sacred gardener. Through this…See More

Is Herbalism Dead?

Interviews can be fun and interesting. In preparing for an interview, I often try to prepare beforehand by figuring out what the questions will be. Sometimes I’m dead on with a few questions but there is always the stumper. Recently, I had an interview wherein the interviewer successfully baffled me. I think she was playing devil’s advocate but I can’t be sure. Her question was very thought-provoking; it was something to the effect of: With so many ready-made herbal products available why on…See More

Stephanie, welcome to the Paranormal and Supernatural Writers group!

If you haven’t had a moment to explore the group yet, I would like to invite you to introduce yourself and the work you are currently slaving over in the “Who Are You, What Are You Writing?” discussion. If you have been honored with publications, feel free to toot your horn in the “Toot Your Horn: Share Your Published Work Here” discussion.

I hope you enjoy our group, and I say “our” because I couldn’t do it without you!

Have a great day!

I'm in the Berkshires in Massachusetts and I'm from the Gulf Coast and I'm usually there for a month or so in the early or late spring. So somehow it will happen. Keep me posted and very good wishes for all you are doing! Best, Nicky
