Im so excited to be a part of this community! Blogging is a new venture for me that so far, has been extremely cathartic and rewarding. However, writing was not an avenue I envisioned for myself until fairly recently. Instead my prior studies were aimed toward a career in educational psychology, which I achieved by diligently keeping my nose to the grindstone through all seven years of college. And once my career aspirations were met, I figured I was set to carry out my professional life as a school psychologist.

Unfortunately though, life threw me a curveball that I could not have anticipated. During the beginning of my second professional year out of graduate school, my husband abruptly confessed to an affair. He then collapsed an died unexpectedly just two weeks later. As a result of these traumatic events, not only did the circumstances in my life change, but I changed too, as a person. What I have discovered over the last four years since he passed, is the healing power of writing. As such, no longer feel suited to my original choice to be a school psychologist. More and more, I feel compelled to write and have come to realize that it is my passion.

So I'm changing gears to focus on my writing. Blogging seemed like a good place to start. I hope you will visit my blog.

Thanks for such a nice note. I understand what you are saying. I experienced another kind of loss long ago and writing may be the answer for you. At some point though, your wrestling with these issues may actually make you a stronger, more effective counselor. You may want to think of a Life Coach... In the meantime I am glad you are writing. I look forward to following your blog, your progress and look forward to more conversations!

Happy holidays and all the best,
Meryl

I Sunny blue - welcome to SheWRites. I just visited your blog which I thoroughly enjoyed. It is touches the eyes, mind and heart. Thank you!

I am also former school psychologist although I have stayed in the field of education. If and when you feel like venturing back into the world of education and a bit of psychology, I would love to hear your voice - I am sure we would all benefit.

In the meantime, I hope you continue to heal and wish you a very happy holiday season.

Hope to see you visit me,

Hi Sunny,

Thanks for the friend addition and for following my blog. I throw a little party in my mind anytime someone signs up to follow that bugger. It looks like you're writing some pretty heavy things yourself. I look forward to getting to know you here and on Twitter.

Be well,

Victoria
