I'm a Mac girl myself, but the Fire was a gift and I must say, I'm loving it. A few odd quirks yet, but I found that with the iPad, too. It takes a bit for me to immerse myself in an app based platform. I'm just so used to my computer…

@Meg, interesting, but not surprising when I think of how many people I know (including me and my new Kindle Fire) who got one for the Holidays. This was the big gift of the year.

Hey, Mama Writers, I'm happy to announce that I'm now a bi-monthly contributor to Write It Sideways. My first "official" contributing post on making the most of writing groups went up today.

I learned in my writing workshop that one method of critiquing is to concentrate on what shimmers. I thought this was also a valid way of looking at the past year. My most recent post on Two Kinds of People concentrates on the writing parts of…

Regina, Normal? What's that? I don't think I would recognize it if I saw it. Normal writing is boring writing. Thanks for reading my Write It Sideways guest post. Susan Two Kinds of People

Hi, Susan! I really liked your blog about the voices in our heads. Thank goodness that writing is socially acceptable schizophrenia.  Haha!  I've said for a long time that normal is highly over-rated, anyway.  :)

I have a guest post up today on Write It Sideways (Hearing Voices? Maybe You're a Writer). Check it out and let me know what you think. I'm vying for a regular contributor spot on this site, which has tons of great writing info. Thanks.

Thanks so much for the comment on the video, Susan. It was my husband's doing. He sees things that bother him and makes a video. I always somehow end up in them by default. If you saw it on my old page, Atoll Annie, that will soon be defunk.…

Thanks for the invite Susan! No I have not tried to import my blogger blog. I guess I ought to look into that. I have a self-hosted WP blog rather than one created at Wordpress.com but hopefully that won't make a big difference.

The blog hop is over, but the dinner/dance goes on . . . I think you're onto something with your wonderful blog re: two kinds of people, and would love to add you as a friend here on She Writes (I sent a request). I would also like to thank for your very kind and thoughtful comments on my blog posts. In light of what you wrote, specifically in response to "Lipstick," I thought you'd appreciate seeing the photo I used when I posted the essay on a different site I write for.  Lipstick

Look forward to connecting with you more . . .

Thanks Susan. I hope tonight's reading with Rebecca Rasmussen was great fun for all the writers who met up there.

Off Campus Writers Workshop this morning was great. A wonderfully responsive and inquisitive audience of men and women. I think there were 55 people there today. Fabulous.

NaNoWriMo Newbie Finds Unlikely Ally

Posted on November 2, 2010 at 9:27am 4 Comments

I decided to take the plunge and do NaNoWriMo this year for the first time. Two years ago I had never even heard of it. Last year, I tried to talk my brother into doing the 3-day Novel Contest over Labor Day Weekend. I thought we'd have a blast holed up in a hotel with laptops, pizza and caffeine, working on a collaborative… Continue

Mother Writer! Essay Contest Entry

We have been requested to post our entries to the Mother Writer! Essay Contest, that was held in in honor of SheWrites one year anniversary. Here's my entry:

Mother Writer? Writer Mother? For me, it’s a chicken or the egg question. When you become a mother, you figure out pretty quickly how to write good nonfiction: medical histories; notes to counselors and teachers outlining everything they need to know about your child; letters to kids at camp; notes in lunch… Continue

In Celebration of Women Writers

Posted on November 15, 2009 at 4:06pm 0 Comments

When I read about She Writes call to action in response to Publishers Weekly's omission of any women writers from their 2009 top 10 list, I was moved write about it, but chose a different forum. I felt that posting here on SheWrites.com was a little like preaching to the choir, so I chose to make my voice heard where I thought it could do the most good — on the Chicago Moms Blog, part of a… Continue
