Who I am:
A lapsed social worker turned professional deckhand, I spend half of the year on the waters of Southeast Alaska, and the other half based out of Bellingham, Washington. After an embarrassing number of years of contemplation, I'm working on a memoir of what it means to be a tree hugging, yoga posing, bleeding heart liberal vegetarian in Alaska's commercial fishing industry. Connecting with a writing community has been a big hunger of mine, so I'm delighted to join SheWrites and learn from new friends. Hi Tele, Thanks for the friend request - I am still learning the ropes of She Writes and am very thankful that we've made a connection.  I enjoyed reading your blog and your encouragement has persuaded me to start my own - sometime soon!  I look forward to getting to know each more better through our continued work with the on line course.

Hope you are working on that book, could easily get comfortable with more of your writing off the screen. Love your blog, definitely following.

I had my reservations and was slow to join in  . . . Now I'm on Facebook, too. Then there are days when I say 'no' to everything. So glad my blog pulled you in. The story you tell via yours is a unique one, indeed. I'll be back.

Hi, Tele! Thanks for saying "Hello." Boy - do I wish I were in Sitka, or most anywhere in Alaska, right now. I love it there!

Hey Tele, Smoke was licking her chops at your Black Cod descriptions and recipe. She's not as tough as she sounds, basically she's just scared of people, dogs and other feral cats but don't tell Bear. Smoke may be a little hurt about her standoffishness though. Hope the boat cat gets a chance to drop a line soon.

Memoir writers are a difficult lot. Everything is so personal for us. Thanks for your comment. I would love to read your memoir.

Hi Tele! Thanks for friending me.  I love, love, love being part of the She Writes community and getting to know my fellow writers, including you.  I used to live in Seattle, and have happy memories of life in the Northwest. You sound like you live a fascinating, adventurous life. I look forward to visiting your blog, too. :)
