What's Your Writing Schedule

Posted on May 14, 2010 at 3:45am 0 Comments

The clock reads 3:23AM and I am awake. I went to bed around 8:30PM last night. I was really tired. Family was getting on my nerves a little, nothing good on TV, so I went to bed.

At 2:00AM I woke up.

My writer friend *Jan (not her real name) gets up at 2:00AM every morning and writes until it’s time to get her three kids up. If she has a morning that maybe she is a little tired and doesn't want to get up, her husband puts his foot in her back and says “Get up, you’ll be… Continue

Jaded Expression on Publishing

Posted on May 12, 2010 at 7:46am 0 Comments

Jaded expressions on Publishing was the one title that came to my mind. (I love bouncing around titles)

A writer I know, and no it's not me, after double digit years and 600+ rejections ,(yes hundreds), got a publishing contract. A result from a one-on-one pitch session at the Las Vegas Writers Conference.

The moral to my story- don't give up. This person is a poster child for tenacity - or are they? The other moral to my story - there is a publisher for every writer.

Is it… Continue

The Journey of Historical Fiction

Posted on October 12, 2009 at 8:40am 2 Comments

Writing historical fiction was something I knew I wanted to write, but wasn't quite sure what to expect. Wow! what a journey. Since I began this large project I have signed myself up for, I am now an advocate for these women of our history - that the history books forgot to mention ~err. The notes I have taken for a memoir of this journey, and a new found love of journal writing. I have always kept a journal, but now it has more meaning.

Something my children will read and see who I really… Continue

Research and the New Light

Posted on August 29, 2009 at 6:52am 0 Comments

In a recent post I mentioned I was stuck and had no clue what I was going to do with Anella.

I have outlined the book so many times I decided to give up. I am writing and letting the story do the work. This method is working much better for me.

Research gives me inspiration, new ideas and new characters to build on. The more I learn, the stronger they become. Women just rock - we always have!

I really wanted to stay away from Politics, I know our country… Continue

New plan for the Novel

Posted on August 5, 2009 at 7:22pm 0 Comments

Whew! I was bored and lost on where to take book one. I picked up a copy of the Writer's digest year book on Novel Writing and there I found an article on 'Where to Begin' by Nancy Kress and a second article on 'Researching Your Historical Novel' by Rosemarie Ostler. Thank you ladies you saved me!

Dived into some research for inspiration and I found it. I am excited again on book one. Yeah!
