Blue NIghts, by Joan Didion. Didion is my favorite essay writer. I just started this book, and I can tell it will be difficult to read because of the subject matter: the loss of her daughter.
Wild Comfort: The Solace of Nature, by Kathleen Dean Moore. Beautiful essays.
The Case for God, by Karen Armstrong. I'm taking my time with this one.
The Bond: Our Kinship with Animals, Our Call to Defend Them, by Wayne Pacelle.
Meg Waite Clayton said… Tina, Delighted to have you in the novelist group. If you haven’t done so already, you might introduce yourself by telling us what you’re working on in the “Show Me Your Novel and I’ll Show You Mine” discussion.
We do a live chat at 1 EST on the first Wednesdays of each month, with instructions on how to participate in the "Our Water Cooler" box near the top of the group page. And we save the wall for discussion, but welcome links to helpful blog posts on the “Links to Helpful Blog Posts for Writers” discussion thread and to published books in the “Our Published Novels” one.
I hope you’ll enjoy the group.

Rebecca Lane Beittel said… Hi Tina,
I haven't been on SheWrites much lately. Been busy doing my own "thang" I suppose. I'm curious as to what my SheWrites friends are up to, writing-wise, though. Right now, I'm waiting to hear back from 2 agents who have requested my full manuscript of The Time Minders. I'm still working on Kingdoms of Blood & Magic, but not as diligently as I should, since I've been querying/submitting for the TTM, doing scads of tutoring at my daughters' school and work for our church's youth group. How about YOU?

Thank you so much for adding me as a friend! You inspire me with your supportive comments.
I am sure you and I can exchange some very interesting stories about the legal system - the courts - in particular. I used to be a litigation paralegal, and I still have a very strong love for the law.
Hope to chat with you soon!

Tina, thank you so much for your kind message about my Motherlode piece! It really made my day... Sending you all my very best, Tracy

Grace Peterson said… Thank you for "friending" me, Tina. Although I've been a member for a few months now I need to block a few hours so I can explore. There is such a treasure trove here and nice people like you to get acquainted with. :) Have a great weekend.
@Tina, Thanks for the nice comment. I'm so glad that I could inspire you to start another blog. I really enjoy mine. And, honestly, it hasn't been as hard as most people think to keep up with all 4 of them. You just have to be realistic about how much time you can spend on them and plan ahead. Sometimes, if I think of a topic that would be perfect for one of them, I write a short post and save it as a draft for later

Just finished the White Album and loved it. Her writing is so different, I can't put my finger on it but I loved it. I have her other books on hold at the library now. Thnks so much for recommending her other book.
Nichole L. Reber said… Thank you most graciously. Part of today's duties are to compose two more posts. Luck be with me!
Cheers.

I recently decided, for the umpteenth time, that I was going to focus on my own writing. The difference between my decision this time and the decisions I made in the past is that this time, it’s a commitment.
I have wanted to be a writer since I was a child. I’ve always loved books, and I wanted to be one of those people who wrote them. I have also loved the act of writing and expressing myself and connecting with others through the writing.
I’ve done so many things in my life…
