Meg Waite Clayton said… Tina,
Thanks for your friend request, and I would love to be friends, but I've held to a policy since I joined SheWrites of accepting friendships only from people who don't use book jacket covers or other promotional materials as their "face." I do understand there are many reasons to want to do so beyond self-promotion (happiness, pride), and I absolutely understand the desire to have folks know we have books they might buy or blogs they might visit. (I certainly keep the jackets of my novels up on my homepage.) But I like to think we are here for something different than self-promotion, and I find people tend to be more engaged in real discussion when they don’t wear book jacket or blog logo faces. Nearly every one of the wonderful writers here – including many award winning ones – use personal photos. If you decide to change your profile photo, I would be delighted to count you as a friend. But of course will understand if you choose not to. In any event, I’ll look forward to seeing you around here.
Best,
Meg
