OMG! I can't stop pinning!

For years, I've been saving home ideas to my computer and this new outlet, Pinterest, has added so much fun to an ordinary project. I've created boards for so many things that catch my attention and I've had the pleasure of meeting other writers and bibilophiles who also share their love for the written word. Sure, it's another online detour, but one that can be very helpful to writers by offering a new way for us to reach out to our audience with character features, ideas, and places. I'm…See More

After painstakingly struggling with the rewrite of my first draft, completed in October, I finally realized why I couldn't push the story forth.

I had the wrong protagonist. I go into detail here:

My Inner Peace comes from Writing

Marge Piercy, author of the bestsellers, Gone to Soldiers and Sleeping with Cats, once said: "The real writer is one who really writes. Talent is an invention like phlogiston after the fact of fire. Work is its own cure. You have to like it better than being loved."

Each day, I take note of vital quotes from literary figures and examine how their reflections of writing apply to me. How they make me feel. React. Inspire me to continue honing in on my craft to pursue…

This is one of the hardest parts, isn't it? How do I describe 100,000 words in 15?

Tonya,

With apologies for being tardy with my welcome, we're delighted to have you in the novelist group!

You might introduce yourself by telling us what you’re working on in the “Show Me Your Novel and I’ll Show You Mine” discussion if you're not too uncomfortable talking about what you're working on. We save the wall for discussion, so please refrain from linking to blog posts there, but do add them in the “Links to Helpful Blog Posts for Writers” discussion thread.

And we do a live chat every Wednesday at 1EST; instructions on how to participate if you haven't done so already are in the "Our Water Cooler Wednesdays" box near the top of the group page.
