Hi there--just wanted to drop by your page and invite you personally to our first-ever She Writes Boston meetup, celebrating She Writes' one-year anniversary! The Boston gathering will be hosted by none other than Jaclyn Friedman, author of "Yes Means Yes: Visions of Female Sexual Power and a World Without Rape (and one of Publishers' Weekly's Top 100 Books of 2009)," and visionary leader of Women, Action Media (WAM!). At the meetup writers will take part in the She Writes "Book Communion," where attendees arrive with one book, their own or another She Writers', new or gently used, and leave with another book as a meaningfully way to support one another's work. We will also be blowing out a candle and making a wish for our upcoming writing year -- along with She Writers gathering in 16 cities around the country. I hope you will be part of this historic (well, at least kind of cool) occasion, and RSVP now to Jaclyn here.

Victoria, I'm the curator of the week for the blog on blogs here (or something like that) and was intrigued by the name of your blog, Blue-Stockings, but couldn't get to it through the list of blogs. I'm going to check it out through your link on your own page here (which does work), but thought you might like to know the link at the blogging group index (http://www.shewrites.com/page/blogging-group-index) doesn't appear to work.

Best,
Meg Waite Clayton

Hi, Victoria,

The meetings are designed to be casual and you don't have to share your writing if you're not yet ready -- yes, plenty of people signed up for the next three months' worth of critiques, so we're off to a great start. We have about 20 writers involved from all over the South Shore and a pretty good variety of genres. I would say the uniting ties are a desire to be an active part of a writing community and to share/receive feedback on works-in-progress. So join us in October or December or whatever works best for you. The address is 157 Old Main Street (off Rt. 3A) in the G.A.R. Hall. And good luck with your thesis!
