"Hi Amy---
I know how discouraging it is to feel like an outcast, even here where we are supposed to feel "supported" (no one but you ever wrote to me either). I have had several breakdowns and thirteen hospitalizations. The longest was for…"

Hi Virginia,
Thanks for writing to me! I just started on this too so I'm pretty new. A couple of things--I love the range of work you've got going on and would love to hear more about them. I'm sorry that you're only doing so-so right now but know that you're not alone. You're the first person I've ever talked to about having bipolar and being a writer so I'm excited and I feel a bit relieved too. How many break-downs have you had? I'm so sorry, those are so terrifying. Ya know after I read your email and I thought about it I realized I was wrong about something--I said I don't fear myself. I think the truth is, maybe when I'm down--the only thing I'm afraid of IS me--the powers the brain can have on your emotions and dismantling you and fragmenting you and the shifts when you feel emotionless--to be scared all the more. I don't know where I stand with it but i do know I wanna grab it by the balls and control it. Maybe we could share and help each other write? Or maybe we could just talk to each other about this because I think it'll really help and i could use a friend. Thanks and thanks for taking the time to read my thing! No one else did!
