I grieved for both of you at the loss of your dads: one, known; one, unknown. I was blessed enough to have a wonderful dad who was such a big part of my life, though my mom was the disciplinarian.

The Once and Future Oprah.

Viewing early episodes of the Oprah Show is startling--they bear a striking resemblance to the shows of Jerry Springer or Maury Povitch, those epics of pathology and confrontation that brought us Baby Mama Drama, Who's the Daddy and every sensation short of (and possibly including) two headed babies (Oprah actually did air a show about separating conjoined twins). The more outlandish and dysfunctional, the better. Oprah could have continued along that same path and probably had a reasonably…See More

Thanks. Yes, it took us a while to get it digitized, but we're happy we did. Looks like sales are moving along nicely too!

We've Gone "E"--Book That Is...

Exposures, originally published in 1990, was our first joint effort. It was written before Waiting to Exhale paved the way for contemporary African American fiction—and the characters in Exposures are not Black. However, we think you'll find that while our style has matured, our characters are drawn with the same care and attention to detail we became known for in Tryin' to Sleep in the BedYou Made, and our other, later books. We also wrote under another name back then—not because we were…See More
