elizabeth commented on the blog post 'Just say no to random capitalization!'
I would never not recommend a book or put it down due to a mistake. I might feel superior for a second and then count my lucky stars that my mistakes were not uncovered yet. We all need to be better at random capitalizations, but we also need to…

September Mourn 2001-2011

I wrote this poem right after September 11, 2001. It felt like my heart was ripped apart and 10 years later, the pain still feels so raw and exposed.I don’t understand that kind of hate. But today, I am reposting the last poem I wrote. Will I write another? I don’t know and part of me does not care. September Mourn was my chance to let it out all over the paper. When I read it, it makes me cry. Not because I am such a great writer, but because I have lost a little of my innocence.I love New…See More

Medium Nancy Meryl says "just because you can't see something doesn't mean that it doesn't exist.” And she should know. Read at Your Own Risk: A Conversation with elizabeth cassidy. By Nicole Dauenhauer.

INTRO by Nicole. We’ve known each other for over ten years now — which has been generally pleasant, albeit tempered with a bit of angst and confusion (mostly on the part of innocent bystanders). Our first meeting was, in a word, interesting. My second day at our former place of employment (let’s call it that so our butts are legally covered) was memorable, in part due to our introduction the day before and our crossing paths the very next day. You said: “I had a dream I told you I wrote a book…See More

I Don’t Want to Be Your Barbie Doll. But I Don’t Want to Be Me Either.

I think we women have gotten exactly what others think we deserve. And they have been so successful at it because we never fight back. Now I am not going to go into each black hole we have climbed into, every enemy we have given up our souls to, but I want to chew the fat for awhile about the world of body image - the lack of it, the self loathing that surrounds it and I really want to be perfectly honest with you all.…See More

Oprah and James Frey pick up a million little pieces. What I wanted Oprah to do before her last show.

In January 2006, a very strange thing happened to me while I was keeping time with my TV. I saw someone on my screen who looked like Oprah, dressed like Oprah but did not sound or act like Oprah.  But it was her Oprah.Yes, indeed. Channel 7, 4 PM EST was Oprah’s time slot for 20 years back in 2006. I even double-checked.  Was I living in a time wrap bought about when hostile aliens transported me to a planet that had never heard of Oprah? Somehow I think aliens know who Oprah is and tune into…See More
