A sacred pause

“A pause is a suspension of activity, a temporary disengagement when we no longer move toward any goal. We may pause in conversation, letting go of what we're about to say to genuinely listen to and be with the other person. We may pause when we are suddenly delighted or saddened,…

Entering bear territory

"Everything is symbolism, this is how the Divine beings communicate with us. In making these dreams into reality, we can co-create and become who we are meant to be, healing the earth and ourselves." – Jim Pathfinder Ewing

Coming to healing

“Healing is truly a journey. The road has its ups and downs…The most important thing is to believe in your own ability to persevere through the many ups and downs and to not lose sight of your wholeness and your journey to realizing it fully.” – Jon Kabat-Zinn

Birthdays for me are a time for reflection, celebration and renewal. My birthday is on Monday, which had me thinking about what I want to give myself this upcoming year. My birthday wish is actually something…

Darkness and light

“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.” – Carl Rogers

Over the past two weeks, eczema has exploded all over my body in a rage of itchy, burning red welts. The word eczema literally means “to boil over” and yesterday was the worst of it. Things came to a head at 3 am this morning, after hours of tossing and turning from the itchiness. My husband ended up driving to the drugstore to get Benadryl, which finally relieved the…

The journey from fear to wholeness

A few months ago, I learned something new about myself that has been a rather difficult pill to swallow. It happened one morning while practicing bringing stillness to my mind. I was in the middle of a peaceful moment in my living room, when it came right through the door, right into my space, and parked itself squarely in my gut. I’ve experienced it before, but had no idea it actually affected me so much. Now, I’m getting to know its real name: Anxiety.… Continue

Warrior-in-training

I met a friend of mine for drinks the other night to catch up and share about the holidays. We went to a lively pub just down the street from where I live. It’s a favourite spot of mine: there’s always a good crowd, and the cozy atmosphere makes me feel like I’m sitting in my living room – albeit much louder. As we sat and talked, our voices became part of the growing chorus of Friday night post-holiday gatherers coming together to set the tone for the New Year.

Moving Past, Moving On

My time in Mobile was short lived, but I am new- listening, breathing in the experiences of a dwindling youth. Those people got to me in ways I didn't think were possible and I have come back with many new ideas.

My family and new friends have shown and taught me things that I don't think they realized they did, which puts a smile on my face and makes me look at them with new eyes. I have also discovered some things on my own, due to excessive travel hours that were spent- for the most… Continue

What's the best way to use your facebook author page? I've been scouting around and I see a lot of excerpts, author pictures, even pets! Should the page reflect the author's personality or the genre she writes? Are long rambling observations a good…See More
