It's your thing. Do what you wanna do.

Karibu Reader and Happy Father's Day!

Toronto is finally warm and I find myself inexorably pulled outside basking in the sun.

If I were to approach a random person (she's a black woman like me) and ask her to purchase my book, what would I say to her? What exactly is she looking for in a story? A heroine who battles aliens? Art is Not Sacred

While listening to my classical music Pandora station, I caught myself nodding along to at tune that was familiar … but I couldn't place it at first. It was Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit." It took me a few minutes to figure out because the classical cover was so far removed from the song's original grunge styling. Once I gave it my full attention and identified this lovely string piece as a Kurt Cobain song, my first reaction was to feel guilty for enjoying it. A Nirvana song, converted…

Remembering Martha

Learning that Martha was dead came as a jolt from the blue–not just because the evening air was so perfectly laden with the scent of lilac, or because the news was so unexpected. More likely it’s that the cloak of optimism I wear in the company of struggling loved ones had become as comfortable and…
