[NETWORKING FOR INTROVERTS] Should All Authors Blog?

Inspired by Dane Golden's guest post on YouTube videos, I have begun a new series of YouTube videos, the second of which answers the question "Should all authors (published or not) blog?" Check out the video below for my answer. Also, one announcement: Litquake, San Francisco's literary conference, is introducing Digi.lit, a one-day digital publishing conference that will take…

Welcome to the Contemporary Romance Café

Welcome to the Contemporary Romance Café–a place as cozy as your favorite coffee shop–where the locals congregate to discuss love and life. A place where laughter fills the air and contemporary romance is always on the menu.

Excerpt from my next novel "The Photograph"

"Louise," Thorny yelled from somewhere in the house. Probably his office, I thought, slamming the album of pictures shut. I was scrap booking, designing pages into works of art, adding photos almost as an afterthought. Low on paper cement I'd have to quit soon anyway. But, damn it to hell! What on earth did he want now?

I scooted my chair back from my desk in the dining room and walked into the hall. "Where are you?" I called. No answer. "Where are you, Thorny?" Louder this…

Egg Pie: More Turkey, Duck and Chicken Eggs!

I have been inundated with eggs: turkey, duck, and chicken.  I wrote about my recent adventures with quiches.  I love writing about food issues and recipes.

How to Get a Literary Agent

Hi girls,

Earlier this month, the London Book Fair hosted all sorts of exciting events for authors.  If you have 45 minutes to spare, I have put a link here to a seminar at the book fair, entitled 'How to Get a Literary Agent'.  It is an up-to-the-minute…

Motivation, where are you?

You know those type of people that say they're going to do something, multiple times, like, "Oh yeah I'm going to start exercising tomorrow" or "I'm totally planning to get into sewing" but then that day never actually comes? I'm one of those people. I start hobbies - lots of them - and I never seem to follow through with any of them. It is my greatest flaw, to be a jack of all trades but none of which I am a master of.

Why is technically why I'm here at SheWrites. I desire to be a…

They Don't Phone! They Don't Write! But At Least They Have A Dog Blog

“I spent the best years of my life raising you, and now that you’ve grown, I never hear from you.”

Sound familiar? That’s the “Mom’s Lament.” Mothers have been kvetching at their grown-up kids like this since the beginning of time.

“You don’t write! You never phone! I feel so out of touch!“

My mother laid this trip on me when I went off to college. I, in turn, laid it on my son. But I don’t anymore.

Now Tom has a dog blog.

Raising my only child was…

A Comparison of Book Blog Tour Services

Book Blog Tours are a relatively new phenomenon and, while you can organize your own, it can be difficult without the proper connections and, with the cost of some of these tours, really not worth it. These companies promote their tours through a range of online media and, frankly, do all the work for you so you can focus on other things, like preparing your guest blog posts.  Though a service, a tour can be put together frequently with less notice than on your own and with far less…

My new book, Single & Happy

This has been my baby for the past year and a half. I've gotten a few great reviews from single men and women, saying that it really helped them to put their single life in perspective. It's not a bitter rant fest - it's really about learning how love being a woman outside of a couple. You can buy it at…

Love to blog

I enjoy blogging!  I enjoy it so much I thought I had better write something on my blog here!

Everyday life however, can stand in the way just a bit at times, and while the desire is always there to contribute to your memberships....sometimes that just isn't a…

Mining the Mind

A few years ago I told my brother that I was writing a novel.

He looked at me strange and said, ” Don’t you need an imagination to become a writer.”

I was dumbstruck that he thought I wasn’t imaginative enough to write. Yet, I soon found out that he wasn’t the only one that thought that way. I…

[What's Next?] What Are You Looking At?

While reading through my first draft one thing has become abundantly clear: What I have here isn’t a draft at all. What I have is a really, really detailed outline.  Part of the reason for this is that my main goal while I was writing was to just…See More
