Seismic Shifts in Publishing
No one doubts that the publishing industry is making a seismic shift; the questions remaining have mostly to do with speculation over the final magnitude when it’s all said and done, and the playing out of the…

[NETWORKING FOR INTROVERTS] Multimedia Ebooks: A Comparison of Publishers
Multimedia ebooks, enhanced books, enriched books, interactive ebooks—whatever you call them, they’re here to stay. From the Index: Beware the viewBook.at and viewAuthor.at link shorteners!
The viewBook.at link shortener service promises you one link to your Kindle book on the appropriate Amazon site for all regions.
That seems pretty cool until you realize what’s actually going on when you use their shortener.
Not only are you getting a short link, the service provider is adding a referral code to that shortened link, so that they get commissions off sales every time you use their short link.…

My Hitachi Magic Wand essay at Salon and Hitachi Magic Wand erotica story in ebook Instruments of Pleasure
I'm ending the year on a high note with an essay at Salon called "Is My Vibrator Ruining My Relationship?" about buying a second Hitachi Magic Wand. I know I look a bit weird in the photo below; I'm not that great at self-portraits, but it's the only photo of I have of me with a Hitachi.…

THE OVERWHELMED, ANXIOUS, CONFUSED OBSESSED SELF PUBLISHER OFFERS FREE EBOOKS!!
Thank you Paulette Alden!
Great to feel in good fFRAZZLED company re. finding readers (and even a few paying ones)
for my just launched novel (SAVING GRACIE). Can't decide what to blog about except boring people
with writerly ordeals, but my website is up, I got a great Kirkus indie review, and knocked 'em dead at the book launch even though it was mostly friends. Paperbacks available, and I’m on kdp select but have no idea when or how long they’ll do a giveaway. …

Ebooks Gain Credibility With News Media
As I was listening to the news on CNN last night I noticed that Wolf Blitzer introduced his guest as the author of an e-book. David Frum, the author of “Why Romey Lost” has obviously chosen to publish as an e-book because he is writing about a timely subject – a subject that will be very popular for a very short time only.
This is a great example of how to use an e-book. If you have information on a current event that will have value for a short-time only, an e-book is a tremendous…

What’s What---Why Authors Still Need Printed Books
With the explosion of digital publishing, a lot of authors are choosing to publish ebook-only editions of their work, and sometimes for legitimate platform-building or business reasons. However, for the vast majority of authors, the value of the print book cannot be overstated. Print is still king.
This post is inspired by a reader response to last week’s post asking about the difference between She Writes Press and…

New Facebook Group: eBook Blitz | and eBookBlitz.com coming soon!
Wherever I can find free eBooks on the Web--Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Diesel, iTunes, Kobo, etc.--I post links to the eBooks in my group, eBook Blitz.
NOTHING TO BUY!
Keep in mind, however, that some of the eBooks I list in the group are only free for a limited time. When I create the post, the eBook is showing as free, but that could change from day-to-day.
I've decided not to delete eBooks that go from free-based to fee-based,…
