Seeking to reinvigorate She Writes' online critique group. Any ideas out there?

The good news is, somebody else is trying to reinvigorate the online critique group here on She Writes. I got the very best critiquer I have ever had from the experience not to mention a dear, trusted friend, and that makes it well worth the hassle of reading pages and critiquing things in genres I do not usually read. I would be more than up for doing such a group again, and I hope to generate some ideas and feedback via this post.
The bad news is the reinvigoration is not…

Work, School, Meds, and a Petition

It's been a long time since I've updated! I've been busy with life, and haven't had time to write. I've been working as a freelance copywriter for a Marketing company in Florida for a while now. I've been writing Press Releases, Blog Articles, Email Drips, a Q&A, FAQ, etc. It's good work and I enjoy it - for the most part. I enjoy the blog articles the most, but also like doing the press releases.

The company is called Transformational Outsourcing, and hopefully it'll look…

How Outsourcing Changed My Life

The definition of outsourcing and the birth of BPO is no stranger to us, especially today when it has become a trend and an issue in the business world as well. However, people should probably be thankful of this process – whoever they are and whatever they do. Outsourcing is simply contracting a set of tasks from your company to another company. The term can also be used by individuals, self-starters, and entrepreneurs or basically just by anyone who wants to pass work to another…

What if Money Didn't Matter?

Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.

 -Howard Thurman

Far, far away, in a distant galaxy, there is a planet where money just doesn’t matter. It doesn’t even exist. I’ve dreamed about it. This is a place where you do what you love. You live a very…

Who are you?

Who are you? Deep down inside, who are you? I went to wake, a memorial service, for my cousin last night and besides crying ten different times it made me think. It made me think, a lot. It's not every funeral that I go to that makes me think about who I am or where I stand in life. This one was different. He just turned 48 a few weeks ago and was recently remarried in July. How can this happen to such a great guy? Don't get me wrong, he wasn't a complete angel growing up, but then again who… Continue

To Violin Music Lovers Everywhere

The world is full of divine music.

Violin music.

And it has my Husby to thank for it.

Maybe I should explain . . .

When Husby was eight, his parents, like many parents have, decided that he should do something . . . musical.

Piano?

Trumpet?

Tuba?

No.

They opted for the violin.

And he agreed.

A small violin was purchased at no small sacrifice for a less-than-wealthy family.

Dutifully, Husby carried it to the…

To All the Fathers in My Life

Me and my Dad

Cattle Shows, Cookies and Cutlets - or - Me and My Big Mouth

What can I say but mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm . . .

My Dad taught me manners.

I was a slow, but well-fed, learner.

Maybe I should explain . . .

Dad and I were on a cattle show tour.

I say, 'we' but I was mostly useless.

I had injured my hand in a grooming accident…

What good can possibly come from having a child home sick from school?

I am home with a sick little girl today.  She caught her daddy’s wretched stomach virus.  My hands are positively chafed from the extremely frequent hand-washings.  I hope that the preventive measures work and I don’t get what they have.

Whenever I can’t find inspiration inwardly in my writing, all I really have to do is look at and engage in the world around me and write it…

MY DEAR IT'S UP TO THEE

MY DEAR IT’’S UP TO YOU

I’ve been to hell and back you see

And Satan’s made a mess of me

I’m glad to report that I am free

And I still have my dignity

So glad it did not ruin me

And to my life I have the key

Now it’s your choice to die or live

What part of life you choose to give

And in your hand be gold or siv

My dear it’s up to you

Will you hold on to yesterday’s pain

Or your presence take and… Continue
