Yes, it’s true. To find and reconnect with your authentic self, all preconceived ideas (words) about who you are; all needs, expectations and identifications with who you want be, have to be suspended… held away long enough to breakthrough to the insight that expressed these longings.
Consider this for a moment: Your true self is not a person, a place out there… or a thing to go find. Your real self isn’t…

Did this get your attention? It did mine when I saw it in the subject of an email from Ted Talks. It got my attention for a couple of reasons I think:
First, because I don’t normally associate “failure” with “interesting” …and especially not when that failure is connected to my life! Most of us would call failure a “set back”, an embarrassing loss, a sign we aren’t meant to do it, depleting, or disheartening – wouldn’t we? That’s the tempting first reaction to feelings of failure.…

Why is it we all seem to struggle so? Why so much dissatisfaction? We never seem quite satisfied with who we are, with what life brings, with where we are in ourselves. It’s almost as if, were we satisfied, we fear there’d be no more reason for us to live; as if the Creator might descend on some big burst of light and pluck us straight away:
“This one’s done! Beam him up, Scotty.”
I’ve had that bizarre fear myself, the fear that if I allow myself to feel satisfied, happy…
