The Compassion Gap by Judy Bolton- Fasman

A couple of weeks ago The Boston Globe ran a frontpage picture of US Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.), the only Muslim American in Congress, crying. When the photograph was snapped, Ellison was testifying at Congressional hearings on the radicalization of American Muslims sponsored by US Rep. Pete King (RNew York), chair of the House’s Homeland Security Committee. I couldn’t help but feel that the man was defending his claim to be an American. Right below Ellison’s picture was a picture of… Continue

Two Paths Diverged by Judy Bolton- Fasman

If Wes Moore’s memoir had not actually happened, it would be a neat parable of two radically different lives that diverged from the same starting point. Moore is the author of a book I can’t stop thinking about called “The Other Wes Moore: One Name, Two Fates.”

Anatomy of a Meltdown by Judy Bolton- Fasman

The late wakeup was my fault. I had promised to poke my head into the den and gently remind my daughter and her guests that yes, indeed, here was the promise of a new day. Carpe diem, girls. I… Continue

"For me, the bang-out-a-rough-draft-and-expand-later model works very well. It's the only reliable way for me to keep my inner editor from interfering at all the wrong times. I use the NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) variant: write the…"
