A dream is a wish your heart makes

I’m inspired to do a lot of things by my dreams. I've created characters and even written entire stories based on dreams. Dreams can lift your spirits or remind you of something you forgot was important.

Just like Jiminy Cricket said, “A dream is a wish your heart makes.” I know it’s a cartoon, but take a minute to think…

My son is growing up and I can't cope

My son is growing up and the strangest thing is happening. I can’t cope. I was already having a hard time dealing with the idea of a girlfriend. Then I cleaned house today. In a box I had completely forgotten about were some pictures that I had also forgotten. Among them the smiling three year old face I had almost forgotten too.

How does that happen? It’s simple really. He gets taller and I get used to looking at that. His hair darkens and I get used to that too. The baby fat… Continue

How do you write when you're broken?

How do you write when you’re broken? That’s the question I have been pondering lately. It seems that every time I start to climb up something knocks me back down. I’ve been down so much lately that I’m starting to get a crick in my neck from trying to look up.

I don’t share a lot of personal information because … well, I just don’t. Without getting into specific detail I will say that more plans have fallen through. Plans that I really needed to work, not just to further my… Continue

What I learned about being a writer in 2009

I've written this to myself, sort of like a "To Do" list. Hopefully there are others who can relate. Some of these are funny, but all are true when it comes to what I've learned about being a writer in 2009. It's a hard road, but one I will travel till I collapse.

1. You can't write every day. You just can't. People get sick, plans fall through, life goes on. Sometimes taking a few days in between to let ideas develop is the best thing for the story.

2. Some… Continue

A Buyer's Guide to Paranormal Romance

Listen to them, the children of the night … Hey, they’re not just for Halloween anymore. These days you keep hearing the term “paranormal romance” more and more. But a lot of people are still unclear about exactly what that means. Hopefully, I can help answer a few questions here and maybe help you decide if paranormal romance is something you or a friend might enjoy.

“My name is Tracey H. Kitts, and I write paranormal romance.” That simple statement usually gets me more weird looks… Continue

Why I do what I do

Since today is She Writes Day of Action, not only will I purchase some of the works of my fellow female authors, but I thought I'd share why this woman writes. It's what I've always wanted to do with my life. When I was little, both my parents read to me. My dad shared his love of science fiction and fairy tales my mom read me ghost stories. So, it should be no wonder that I ended up writing paranormal romance. I didn't want to be the heroine in the story like some of my friends did, I wanted… Continue
