In Honor of 8000: Shout Out A She Writer Today

Earlier today, I welcomed our 8000th member (and if you get a chance, welcome her too!), and in honor of this major milestone, I'd like to do what every good salonniere does: graciously—and gratefully—yield the floor to the incredible women who have made her salon a success. In honor of 8000, I'm creating a new She Writes tradition: She Writes Shout Out Day. Today, I ask each of you to do something quick, painless and tremendously powerful: shout out a fellow She Writer. (Feel free to shout out more than one!)

Who has stopped by and said hello to you here? Whose words will you not forget? Who has written a blogpost you loved, or founded a group you can't live without? Whose work have you discovered—or rediscovered—by finding her here on She Writes? Tell us about her, shout out her books or her blog, and in your shout out, DON'T FORGET LINK LOVE. Link to your fellow She Writers' She Writes page. Link to her blog or website, if she has one. Link to her Facebook page and don't forget to mention her Twitter handle. And be sure to share your shout out on your Twitter and Facebook accounts, too. Tag your tweets "#SWSOD" so the Twitterers among us can follow the thread. In short, help us create a viral wave that will give a whole lot of She Writers a heck of a nice feeling today.

We will also share links to your posts on our She Writes Facebook Fan Page and through our Twitter feed @shewritesdotcom (fan us! follow us!). Looking forward to learning more about this community today, from the women who know it best: YOU.

This week in particular I am so grateful for two amazing women who have helped in innumerable ways: Christi Craig and Tania Pryputniewicz. They have each taken so much of their own time--from writing and family--to read, critique and encourage my blundering ways.

Do find Christi here , on her blog Writing Under Pressure and on Twitter.

Tania can be found here, on her blog Feral Mom, Feral Writer, and on Twitter.

They are each kind, generous, and have good taste in sports wear. <3

Here's a shout out to Lois Roelofs whose memoir Caring Lessons will be published this year. Look her up on Amazon and learn more about this story of learning to love nursing and sharing that love with her students.

Here's a shout out to JULIE GENOVESE - a wonderful writer whose new book was just released in March. Check out "Nothing Short of Joy." What makes Julie special is her commitment to bringing joy into her life and to those she meets. She has been in my writing workshops for several years through WOMEN READING ALOUD. Her many medical challenges have given her a backbone made of steel. Connect with her on SHEWRITES and on facebook.

I would like to shout out to Doreen Piellucci for her continued kindness and support. Not only is she an amazing writer, she is more importantly a remarkable person with a generous heart and creative spirit.

I'd like to give a shout out to Rachel Sarah, author of the book and host of the website Single Mom Seeking. Rachel does a great job of connecting women and supporting women writers. Great site for single mothers.

I'm fairly new to SheWrites and am amazed at how many wonderful women I am slowly getting to know, and the talent and passion that is here. My shout out is to Dionne Ford. She joined the Family Diaries and Document group, and through there I found her wonderful blog, Finding Josephine, which is about her journey to learn more about her family's history. I am thoroughly enjoying her writing and her energy, and her blog has given me a new perspective on how to make genealogy fascinating to a broader audience than one's immediate family. I've also enjoyed reading some of her excellent articles. Thank you, Dionne! I look forward to seeing "Finding Josephine" in my email inbox, alerting me to your new posts.

A shout out to Kate Moses, author of the beautiful, heart wrenching Wintering, a novel of Sylvia Plath, is just coming out with a new memoir, Cakewalk. What could be better that fabulous writing and cake?? I promise you, if you like food and you like reading about a spunky young girl turning into a spunky woman, you will love this book! Find Kate Moses on her webpage, just google her.
