Comment by Joanne Barney on June 1, 2012 at 12:41pm Hi, Caitlyn: I wrote this blog on a day when the sun shone here in Oregon and summer seemed only a day or so away. The sun went away for weeks, but the moment of almost-summer still makes me smile.

I'd like to submit a SUMMERTIME themed BACKSTORY ESSAY for your SUMMERTIME posts for my novel (my 15th) coming out June 1....the novel itself is set mostly in summertime and was my first ever published novel back in 1984. But I can't seem to get a message through to you any other way so I'm leaving a comment here. Email me at rdgriff@htc.net and I'll send you that ESSAY about the writin
g of my first book way back in 1984....a book that will be out again on Friday for the first time in 30 years. Warmly, author Kathryn Meyer Griffith rdgriff@htc.net
Comment by Michele Peterson on May 29, 2012 at 8:38am Hi Caitlin and members of She Writes. If you're thinking about taking a writers retreat check out my post Summer Writers Conference and Retreat -- 5 Tips on how to choose. There's something for every budget. The one in Tatamagouche NS is a real bargain at under $500 as it includes accommodation, all meals and the workshops. If you receive a bursary you can reduce the cost even more.

Here are some simple ideas I shared with my writing group:
Comment by Matilda Butler on May 25, 2012 at 9:48am Hi Caitlyn: Great idea. Summer is an evocative time with long days for thinking and writing and yet days in competition with time for children and grandchildren, gardening, and outdoor exercise. I'm developing ideas for a post and will definitely send you the link. I'm looking forward to reading all the featured blogs. --Matilda
