On Writing
I'll admit that I'm a freelance writer first and a novelist second. (Or maybe sometimes fifth or tenth, depending on the day.) As a result, I pound out a lot of practical sentences on my keyboard. And, yes, sometimes the act of writing doesn't seem like a creative process at all for me. Sometimes the web copy…Continue

Have you ever been asked what you're working on next? What you're thinking about working on next? Ideas for things you might consider possibly maybe working on next? If you're like most writers, you've been asked that question, and, if you're like most writers, you've gotten responses similar to what The Frenemy says in this Annoying Conversation: "Pitch Me!" (Even Though It's A Waste of Time To Listen to Your Unfinished Ideas): boredom,…Continue

'Write what you know' was always a piece of advice that I conveniently ignored - looking back, it seems that this was probably because 'what I know' wasn't, actually, very much. But things have changed over the last few years (I'm now incredibly wise, I'll have you know). In fact, sitting in a writing seminar about a year and a half ago, I remember my frustration and, indeed, jealousy, when another student explained that she had no idea what to write her play about, because…Continue

With everything on your plate to get the word out about your book, getting a photo taken might be pretty far down on your list – if it’s even on your list at all. But to do a good job marketing, I can’t emphasize enough how important it is to have a professional, high-resolution headshot.
If you want to promote your book, you’re going to have to reach out to people who have no idea who you are, such as the press or reviewers. Many of these people will ask you for a photo, or they’re…Continue

Paranormal Romance is my favorite genre, but mix it with humor and what a treasure! The Body Snatcher Wears Lipstick has a twisty, unique paranormal concept/theme unlike anything I’ve read before – refreshing.

...as a free-standing ebook by a new independent Publishing house called "Musa Publishing". I really don't like to "toot" my own horn (or "pimp" my own work - whatever we say these days), but this is the way it's done now folks, so forgive me if I start to get annoying. The book comes out December 29th. It is a quick read, and I think a nice combo of scary and thrilling.
Now I'm going to reward myself for posting this by eating an entire bar of Toblerone Chocolate.

Book Give-Away until Dec 6th: To win a children’s book, The Forgotten Trolley, leave a comment about this interview with your e-mail. U.S. and Canada.
The Forgotten Trolley is not only a cute children’s story, but it appeals to adults as well. The lesson learned in this book is what to do when life disappoints you. You can either give up on life and be miserable, or do what Al did. He humbled himself, was reborn, and started a new phase of his life as a working café instead…Continue

As Kriffle the Flidderbug investigates why his fellow ‘bugs find it impossible to agree on the pressing issue of how many points there are on the leaves of the tree on which they live, he finds that the truth is more complicated, and ultimately more terrifying, than he ever could have imagined.
Flidderbugs is a political satire, a modern fable, or maybe just a funny little story about a bunch of insects with some very peculiar…Continue
