Books have always had a special place in my heart. Even as a young child I was amazed that I could be whisked away into another life and time while immersed in a book. As I grew, so did my love of reading. That feeling of being totally lost in a story is something that surpasses all other diversions for me. Even then, I sometimes look up, after a particularly great part, and am filled with awe in the author. "How did they do that?" To me it's like looking at an elaborate hanging tapestry, or a painting that glows with light and shadow in all the right places. Or for some, that feeling when they look at their favorite muscle car... perfection. What I wouldn't give for a small iota of some of that talent. I'm both envious and wonder struck at the same time. Some people fantasize about becoming a professional musician, supermodel, sports star, surfer dude, business mogul...not me. In my dreams, I am an Author, with a capitol A.

There are a few times in my life that I've felt like something I've always dreamed of is actually breaking out of my dreams and into reality. Pivotal, life changing, wonderful things, like; my wedding and the birth of my precious daughter. Now I get to dive into yet another dream realm. Just like with marriage and motherhood I'm sure there will be a wide learning curve. But I'm totally committed. I'll be learning as I go and hopefully becoming more and more skillful. But that's how it begins, right? You dive in.

I  love words. I have a few of them. And I'm about to unleash some of them onto the world.

Thanks, Elisabeth! I checked out some of your short stories on your blog page. I really liked the Summer's End one. I know you're right about writing every day. I do need to do that. Thanks. All the best to you as well!

Hello Gabrielle - while you are 'diving' into another dream realm, as you begin your journey of writing, I will be jumping.  I started writing publically in April and called by blog   I Jumped!  Into Writing...

I Jumped! Into Writing...

Best of luck to you.  Write every day to stay happy.

Gabrielle...and that's why I became an author over forty years ago as well. To create that magic. I just hope I've succeeded in some small way. Nice to be friends here on Goodreads. Warmly, author Kathryn Meyer Griffith rdgriff@htc.net
