September 30, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. Murder on the Beach Bookstore in Delray Beach, Florida will host the book launch party of "Betty Tales The True Story of a Brave Bobblehead Cat."
This little book about a little cat has big things to say about disabilities, determination and persistence. And it's all true. I have a cat with cerebellar hypoplasia, known in the vernacular as "bobblehead" or "wobbly" syndrome. For more information on the book, you can go to my website, BettyTales.com.
I wrote this book at the request of a teacher friend who thought Betty's antics would be just the thing to help her teach her classes about disabilities. Well, she was right. The book is doing that and much, much more. It's helping cats with this condition get adopted from shelters and rescues by educating potential owners about the condition. It's helping parents with disabled children by giving them an animal with a condition that could keep her down, but doesn't. It's helping everyone learn that everyone has obstacles in their lives just like Betty does. She climbs the stairs in my house every day and conquers her obstacles. What are the stairs - the obstacles - in YOUR life?
I hope that if you're in the South Florida area on September 30, you'll have a chance to stop by Murder on the Beach. (A great little independent bookstore with lots of murder, mystery, mayhem AND Florida writers, Florida history and fun books for kids.) And I could use your support in passing my invitation on to your friends in the area.
Thank you and to all of you - keep climbing YOUR stairs! At the top, you get to do your happy dance :)
