I'll be leaving on a week-long cruise to Mexico in a couple of days.
I'm excited about the trip, but I'm also excited about releasing "Feign", my poetry collection. I've sent out messages / posts / tweets about the release, and created and scheduled a Facebook ad, so I'm hoping to break my previous record of 230 downloads in 24 hours. Then again, I'm not sure if people are really all that enthusiastic about poetry and song lyrics any more (if they ever were). Oh, well. We'll see what happens.
I've already posted one sample poem, so I thought I'd post another in celebration.
Bridgewater
I watch in silent wonder
As your tears moisten my smiles
And you struggle to return to a reality
That my spirit now defiles
I know you want to bathe
In the pseudo-infinity of my blood
Yet you honor me with your tranquil presence
And shower me with love
You recognize that your foul is my fair
In this we share a passion.
Be it halted, be it rare.
You contemplate my future
Will I suffer what you have become?
And adore you ever more
Until my heart grows ever-numb?
You lay my poison down to sleep
As I grow without you I weep
For I know the wound of my existence is as deep
As your bruised and swollen fall from grace was steep
The day I arrived
Your desires faintly cried
Your potential lightly sighed
You laughter suddenly tried
Your individuality presently, meekly hides
By me,
Alas,
By me
And Mama, I apologize
