After a few technical blips, Creative Co-operatives, a website I was commissioned to copywrite by Co-operatives UK, the main body representing the co-op sector in the UK, has gone live. The site includes case studies and information on why co-operating, collaborating and co-working can work for writers, journalists and other professionals in the 'creative industries' – acting, graphic design, fine art, textiles, web design, dance, music and so on. Not only can co-operation and other ways of working together help to build more stable livings for creative professionals, but many creative co-operators also find that they get valuable inspiration and support from fellow co-op members. The site also includes comment from industry professionals and researchers, including Alex Klaushofer of NewModelJournalism, another new website, this one discussing and promoting new directions emerging in newspaper and magazine publishing in this age of dying newspapers and free web content. Please pay both sites a visit!
