By now, after almost two and a half years of She Writes, I should not be surprised when She Writes turn out to be, yet again, the most generous and supportive community around. But I was still a little bowled over, and so grateful, when more than FIFTY of you answered my call to help guest-edit the blog while I took a writing-sabbatical to work on my first novel. The most I had hoped for was to cover my duties until the end of February, but with this response, and in light of the incredibly talented, fascinating group of women who stepped forward, I have decided what the heck, I will go through April.
So...today is day one of my descent down the writerly rabbit hole. Of course my seven-year-old is home sick and here I am writing a blogpost, but I feel sure I will get into a groove and get a lot done. I can't wait to report back on what I've written, and of course I will be checking in here whenever I want/need. :)
I couldn't do this without the help of our guest editors, and I hope you will welcome them and give them lots of feedback on what they post. (This week, Seal Press Executive Editor BROOKE WARNER!) I also couldn't do it without the help of CAITLYN LEVIN, who, after just three months as one of our fall She Writes interns, has become indispensable and will be coordinating the blog in my absence as She Writes' Managing Editor.
That's all for now. I can't wait to get started, so I guess I should.
Right after I eat some lunch.
