I admit it. I am more than terrible writing query letters. I was recently thrown out of my kayak by an agent I visited in New York who looked at my book from only a sentence in an email. Some months have passed. It is time for me to pick up the oar again. Could anyone who has time read this one and give me some feedback? I would sooo appreciate it...Thanks in advance, Joyce

Dear Jacques de Spoelberch,
I am sending you this query letter because I admire the work of one of your clients,
Josilyn Jackson.
My novel, Grasshopper is an edgy 65,000 word contemporary novel about power--how one maintains, loses and regains it--told from the point of view of a twelve-year-old child. Set in America's heartland and inspired by Vladimir Nabokov's Lolita and my childhood, Natalie Cooper's story embraces and honors triumph of the human spirit.
My literary biography is varied. My fiction has appeared in various publications, including: The Broad River Review, The Sylvan Echo, The Elkhorn Review and Doorknobs & BodyPaint Fantastic Flash Fiction: An Anthology. I am listed in The Iowa Center of the Book for a biography, The Old Wolf Lady, published with the aid of The Iowa Arts Council in 2005. Currently, I am co-founder and editor for Prairie Wolf Press Review, a new online literary anthology.
I would be honored if you would consider reviewing my work and taking me on as a client. Thank you for your time. I have included an SASE. My manuscript is ready for review.
Sincerely,
Joyce (j.d.) Daniels
