Day one SheWriMo, year two. Last year I learned that I am good at discipline for the first week, and then I break my intention and get back to the old ways of pushing off into the void. I did good, but then I decided I had so much time, what was the rush? The rush was to simply do something for 30 days that I said I was going to do. This year, the goal is the same.
The answer is always to write more, respect yourself do that nasty thing, work when you don't want to. So this year, I am again starting with a giant celebratory exuberant swish...I'm going to the local Korean spa (in Los Angeles), bringing my laptop, and doing my first 1200 words while bedecked in a robe, sitting in a room full of recliners, with Korean soap operas on in the loud background. The goal this year is to learn that discipline can be a pleasure, not a punishment, and that growth also means room for more delight. Here's to expansion, and the pleasure of keyboards!
