I know I haven't been here in a while, but that's exactly what this post is about. I found this community when I had to participate in a Ning community one of my professors created for our class. I loved the community of writers here, but I found myself struggling to juggle this place with other communities I was involved with. Then I found 20 Something Bloggers and I just started slumping.

After a long break from She Writes, I found that I missed it and online communities in general. I can keep up some on my phone (thank goodness for smartphones), but I prefer social networking on a computer, which sounds so old school now. I do what I have to do, though. I'm struggling to bring an audience to my blog, and I feel that is in large part due to my lack of networking skills. I love the idea of social networking, and networking in general, but my execution is poor. I never really grasped the concept of good marketing skills when I took some marketing classes in high school, and I feel like I'm in a pit I'm trying to dig myself out of.

My question is, what do you do to help juggle your participation with online communities, and how do you draw readers to your blog? Obviously the content has to be there, but getting an audience is also part networking. What are some of your tricks?
