I've just added a recent blog post for my Global Mama column on Girl with Pen (http://girlwpen.com/)... and I'm looking for contributors! The idea of the column is to examine the myths and realities of motherhood and family life in a globalized world... so it's fairly broad. I am really interested in featuring a variety of perspectives, so please check it out and consider whether you would like to contribute a post!

I have several blogs that I have published online. I live in Hawaii and write about articles about art, beauty, family and other subjects. I would be grateful if I could also submit them to you to include at your Girl with Pen?
Please let me know and I will give you the articles. Thank you so much.

Hi, Heather. I'm a 48-year-old mother of two teenagers (13 and 15) who left a well-paying job two years ago to be a full-time freelance writer. I've made more adjustments than I ever dreamed of -- more time with my firefighter husband (he works 24 hours on, 48 off), less money, more volunteering with the high school band, much more time to be freakishly worried about what my teenage daughter was doing every minute when she was 14, fewer excuses not to visit my widowed mother ... And along the way, I have been realizing that I'm not young anymore, but I can go out without makeup and be OK with that; I wish I could do more to help the world; and I am wondering when I'm going to stop going back to bed when the kids get on the bus.

I'd love to contribute a post. Thanks for extending the invitation to us. I'm at cindy.dashnaw@gmail.com.

Hi Heather, I am a television producer, writer and a mother of a 19 month old girl who decided to become a stay at home mom. I'd love to contribute to your blog. I've found as globalized as the world may be my world has became a microcosm centered on my house, neighborhood and my daughter’s nap schedule. During the last six months I’ve also unfortunately suffered two miscarriages and discovered that may other women I know have shared similar experiences but no one really speaks about it. If you’re interested in my perspective I’d enjoy sharing it. Good luck! Holly Hughes

Hi Heather! I am a writer and blogger and for a long time also ran a medical philanthropy that organized spine surgeries for crippled children in Africa, Dominican Republic, etc. I had some interesting insights about motherhood from those trips to Malawi, especially, and in fact they were what made me want to be a mother. It was a life-changing shift in perspective based on what I witnessed in terms of maternal sacrifice for the betterment of a child. Also, the differences in health care systems were staggering (as were the differences in patient attitudes)--i.e., here if someone tells you you need surgery, you're worried and you say "why me?" to some extent. There, if you are approved for surgery it's like you won the lottery, it's the best thing that ever happened to you. It really taught me to examine how lucky I am, and opened my heart to the idea of motherhood. Anyway, would be interested in contributing ot the column based on those experiences, if you're interested. Thanks! Laura
