Karen Scott is excited to announce that her first children's short story will be published in the Jan/Feb issue of Pockets magazine. The story is called "Riding Lesson" and is about a girl who must find a new home for her injured show horse. She donates him to a riding therapy school.

On Friday, I made my television debut on the 10! Show for my book The Wisdom to Know the Difference: When to Make a Change–and When t.... It was totally me pitching myself (no help from a publicist).

I designed and proposed a science writing symposium called "Spreading the Word: Writing Science to Fascinate and Everyday Audience," for the 2010 National Conference of the NSTA in Philadelphia. http://tiny.cc/HpFrz My proposal was accepted! The symposium, with three well-known science writers and me as moderator, will take place on Friday, March 19, 8:00-9:00 AM, at the Pennsylvania Convention Center , Hall D/Room 26.
