Well here it is, the final day of Nano, and I'm just now getting back on to post here at SheWrites. What can I say? I've been buried in WriMo Rebellion.

The results of our *ehem* friendly family competition? Mom won, the kids whimped out.

I completed my journey of insanity a few days ago. It was my first ever Nano, and I hit a few thousand over the 50k mark.

The plan for my mess of a manuscript? I, like my fellow Wrimo-er, George Angus of Tumblemoose, plan to put it on a shelf until after the holiday crazies are over. I need some space and distance before I attempt any edits. I think a month away without giving it a second thought will help give me the perspective I need for the editing process.

Heck, if I were to try editing it now? I'd probably scrap the whole thing and start all over again. Or worse...scrap the whole thing and never touch it again.

This year, I was a WriMo Rebel. I worked on a non-fiction ms. I had started and stopped the project a few times, never making it to even the first 1000 words, much less 50,000. Much as I really wanted to challenge myself with fiction (something I've done very little of since high school,) this project just wouldn't rest quietly while I played with fictional characters. So, being the never-one-for-following-the-rules personality I am, I started breaking Nano rules before it even began. (I didn't do any writing before Nov 1st, but I did decide to work on a nonfiction piece rather than fiction.)

Next year, however, I WILL work on a fiction novel. Now that I see that even I, with my hectic, break-neck pace lifestyle, can work in time for a novel in a month, I'm ready to jump in with both feet next year.
