In honor of the She Writes campaign to buy books by women, I thought I'd share some books by women I bought today at the National Women's Studies Association book exhibit:

Reconstructing Motherhood and Disability in the Age of "Perfect" Babies, by Gail Heidi Landsman

Beyond Bad Girls: Gender, Violence and Hype, by Meda Chesney-Lind and Katherine Irwin

Mothering in the Third Wave by Amber Kinser

Mother Knows Best: Talking Back to the "Experts," edited by Jessica Nathanson and Laura Camille Tuley
You may notice a certain theme to most of these books, the purchase of which may have been influenced by the fact that I'm away from my 14-month-old daughter for the first time ever (for more thoughts on this phenomenon, you can visit
my other blog). Regardless of my own homesickness for my baby, these look like fabulous books, and many of the authors are here at the conference. Had dinner tonight with
Amber Kinser, among
other talented Women's Studies scholars.
