Hi all! Every week we plan to feature our members' upcoming events. Remember that SHE WRITES is in BETA form (which means we are a work-in-progress) and we need to see what people like. If you enjoy seeing our events listings, comment on this! RSVP! Go to something! Anything you can do to show that this is a feature we should keep. :)

The 2009 Iowa Summer Writing Festival will hold two workshops this week taught by SHE WRITES author Sarah Saffian: "Who Dat? Bringing Your Profile Subject to Life" and "Get Over Yourself! Writing the Personal Essay that Others Give a Damn About." To learn more, click HERE.

SHE WRITES author Pia Z. Ehrhardt has turned us onto the super cool series Featherproof's Dollar Store Tour. The Dollar Store Show is touring around the country -- FYI for you Texans out there, they will be in Houston TONIGHT! Like, in an hour! In New Orleans, however, they will feature our very own Pia Z. Women, Action and the Media (WAM!) is having a happy hour tomorrow night in Brooklyn. As the fabulous Deanna Zandt put it: "Please come and hang with us and other like-minded folks interested in working toward gender justice in media, and gender justice through media. A poetry reading at Susan Eley Fine Art featuring Ada Limon and Jason Schneiderman, brought to our attention by our very own Anne Sherwood Pundyk -- who has a beautiful painting on her page in the place where most of us have a jazzed up author photo. For details click HERE.

JULY 9:
SHE WRITES mystery writer Karen Dionne will read at HOUSING WORKS in NYC with the author Sebastian Fitzek. Proceeds support Housing Works charities. For more info click HERE.

NEW JERSEY:
JULY 7
SHE WRITES author Maryann McFadden will be celebrating the launch of her second novel, SO HAPPY TOGETHER, at a special event hosted by her favorite indie bookstore Clinton Bookshop, in Clinton, New Jersey. Click HERE for details!

WOMEN READING ALOUD hosts the SUMMER WRITING WELLNESS DAY on July 11th. Randolph,NJ. 9:30 AM- 4PM. Hosted by our very own Julie Maloney, founder of WOMEN READING ALOUD. For info, click HERE.

PENNSYLVANIA:
The first-ever Chestnut Hill Book Festival on July 10th, 11th and 12th will feature over 50 well-known authors from the Philadelphia area, including Buzz Bissinger, Gerald Kolpan, Elijah Anderson, Elizabeth Varon and Jon McWhorter. SHE WRITES author Susan Barr-Toman will be there, teaching "Shaping Your Story" at 2:30 on Saturday. For deets click HERE.

Yes, international too! We have writers from Mexico City, Istanbul, Qatar, Cairo and Bangalore, and I can think of nothing cooler than supporting and seeding salons in all those places and MORE. Having lunch with Padma Desai on Friday. Hoping to get her involved as we move forward with a grand, global vision...
