I've been casting about for a way to do some good for the holidays, and have two offers to share: free copies of my hard-to-find first novel, The Language of Light, and personally inscribed copies of The Wednesday Sisters for holiday giving:

Donate for the Cure and Get a Free Copy of The Language of Light

I contributed copies of my hard-to-find first novel, The Language of Light, to a Wednesday Sisters Breast Cancer Two-Day team this fall, and they flew off the shelf at The Bookstore in Glen Ellyn, IL. So I'm going to try something like that again: If you'd like a FREE copy of The Language of Light (for a small contribution to a good cause) just email me through the emailmeg link on the contact page on my website that you are committed to contributing $50 or more to Susan G. Komen for the Cure - a cause I've supported for years. If you're one of the first 15 people I hear from, I'll let you know. You can then make the contribution, email me a copy of your receipt or forward me your email confirmation, and let me know where you'd like the book sent and to whom I should inscribe it. If it's a gift, let me know and I'll even giftwrap it. The books and the postage are on me.

Share The Wednesday Sisters for the Holidays
A number of local book groups (I've been visiting a LOT of book clubs lately, in person and by phone; thanks, everyone, for including me!) have asked if I'll bring copies of The Wednesday Sisters they can buy and have signed for holiday giving to friends. I don't sell books myself, but I do act as intermediary for my favorite local independent booksellers, Kepler's and Books Inc. If you would like to have signed copies personally inscribed to friends, you can do one of two things:

(1) Send me books you've purchased, along with a stamped, addressed padded envelope to mail them wherever you'd like (postage for a single book, media rate, is $2.38, plus $0.39 for each additional book going to the same location), and I'll sign them and send them along; or ... even easier:

(2) I'll cover the postage and support my favorite independent booksellers! Just send me a check for $15.30 per book (price plus CA tax) and the address you'd like the books sent to (you or your friend). I'll buy copies from Kepler's or Books Inc., inscribe them, have them giftwrapped, and send them along to you. In this case, I'll cover the postage - my little way of giving back to two wonderful local bookstores who've been tremendously supportive of The Wednesday Sisters. (Just make the checks to Meg Waite Clayton.)

In either case, do include a note about who you'd like the books inscribed to and anything in particular you'd like me to write, as well as your name and your email address (so I can confirm I've sent off the books). If you don't ask for a specific inscription, I'll write "For [name you provide] from [your name]. Happy Holidays! Best, Meg Waite Clayton"
