As you can imagine, interning at She Writes for the summer has its perks. Last night at the One Year Anniversary in New York, besides greeting people at the door and asking them to please put on a name tag, I was lucky enough to serve as a wishing well. After everyone blew out the candles on their cupcakes, they wrote down a wish for themselves or She Writes and handed it to me. Here are some of their Wishes:
- My writing wish: I hope to get to stay with She Writes and see and help it grow. This room of our own is here to stay!
-To open a bank account to hold my royalties.
-Launch writing career this year.
-Sell and finish my first book!
-To finish all that I begin.
-If something I write in the next year will make even a small difference in one person's life, I will have fulfilled my destiny as a writer.
-Publish a book about cupcakes!
-I wish that my artist brain will come back in full force, undaunted by the misery of marketing.
-To write a winning investor deck, and secure funding.
-Wish granted. I have completed writing my novels.
-A huge check from an investor.
-To get a book deal for all three books at 100,000.
-To be published.
-To receive a large advance from a large publishing house for my second book.
-That I make good writing.
-I wish to finish the essay I started!
-To write ten kick-ass business school essays, get into Stanford, and write one poem or short story.
-I wish to fully embrace my writing ambitions--and my sense of creative play.

And so She Writers, what do YOU wish for this year? Add your wish in comments!

Kudos Julia. You inspire us all. My writing wish is to allow myself to live beyond my fears and receive support from others.

Excellent post, Julia! So nice to meet you last night.
My writing wish is to have faith in myself as a writer, not just an editor, and to at least START the YA book I'd like to write.
