What are the benefits of self-publishing as opposed to using a publishing company?

Compared to traditional publishing, self-publishing is faster and will have a higher royalty rate. It also allows the writer to have full control over sales and marketing, including organizing book signings, media interviews and promotion.

It’s a lot of work but there’s little doubt that this is the most exciting and rewarding part of the self-publishing process.
