Hello Writer Friends,

I am so excited to announce the launch of our new anthology, Dancing at the Shame Prom, which will be released on September 18th by Seal Press. Before I get to the part where you are included, let me give you a quick descriptive of the book, since I know you all are asking yourselves, what is a shame prom? 

Shame is a powerful thing. It can weigh on your heart and mind, diminish your sense of self-worth, and impact the way you live in the world. But what happens when you share that secret burden?

Amy Ferris, Hollye Dexter, and the writers they brought together are all ready to let go of shame. In Dancing at the Shame Prom, twenty-six extraordinary women—Lyena Strelkoff, Samantha Dunn, Teresa Stack, Monica Holloway, Nina Burleigh, Amy Friedman, Meredith Resnick, Victoria Zackheim, and more—take the plunge and say,“yes” to sharing their stories. These brave writers, journalists, musicians, artists, directors, and activists have offered up their most funny, sad, poignant, miraculous, life-changing, and jaw-dropping secrets for you to gawk at, empathize with, and learn from—in the hopes that they will inspire others to do the same. Letting go feels good!

So here's the part where you come in. This is not just a book to us. It's a movement. Our wish is to rid shame from the planet, so that we can all live the loud, brave, audacious lives that were meant for us. We are asking you to share your stories. Each story posts anonymous, unless you include your name in the text. As writers, you may want to include your name for credit, but it's fine with us if you just want to get it out there anonymously. Either way, we want to hear from you.
