My book is about a boy who has a neurosurgeon Father who ignores everything and a pill popping alcoholic Mother. He does some evil things to find the girl of his childhood dreams.

Hi Alle, The flower symbolism I'm referring to in that title is actually more in the Georgia O'Keefe sense of symbolism. :) But hey, my first novel is out now! Check it out. http://riverpoetsjournal.com/Lilly-Press-NewBooks.html I really do hope to get to Seattle at some point. We'll have to sell a bunch of books here first though. This is a small publisher and this is going to be a grassroots thing. But it'll grow. I just know it!

Actually, he writes, too. He just likes to go out for nice dinners and dancing or otherwise having fun in the evening, where I'd be content to stay home and read.
Thanks for that comment Alle. I hadn't thought of the originality component, but I do think that ensuring our writing has moments of surprise is important.
It keeps going on and off the list. I worry there won't be enough to do there to keep my husband happy; he's more restless than I am. But your note is making me reconsider.
yeah, that's kind of like my mantra at times. But my desk keeps calling out to me and the words just keep flowing.....I guess if that's my worst problem then I'm doing pretty well, huh? LOL
Thanks Alle. Sounds like the only viable option at this point. Fortunately, the kids start back to school in a couple of weeks then I'll have from 9 -3 to write. This summer has just really thrown me for a loop. I've been dying to begin the edits on my book. Thanks for your comment.
I just read your "Buddhism And Baseball" piece, and it's a superb essay! It reads as if you've done what a writing teacher years ago called "taking dictation from within." Happy to share dysfunction and Judaism and a love for writing essays with you.
Hi Alle,
Have a wonderful trip and I will catch up with you once we are both home again. We too leave for a trip tomorrow.
Thank you for your grace and understanding.

Alle,
I don't have a contract with the publisher. This was all talked about before a contract was involved but I have decided to not deal with this publisher and I am just going to go the new media route and make it into a serial novel then later on an ebook. I'm making it into 100% fiction. The publisher wanted me to write it more like a memoir and I didn't want that. Thank you for the advice

Last week? Were you in DC last week? It was like Death Valley with steam last week. The lettuce in my refrigerator wilted last week. My brother in FL was complaining about 90 degrees and I was outside with my shoes blistering last week.
Welcome to the south!
"Welcome, V! Good for you for taking the time for yourself to do something you love. It makes you a better mom! I got back into writing the same way, one nap time at a time. I look forward to hearing about your progress!"
"I agree with Niki that combining being a stay at home mom with writing can provide you with a good routine. It worked that way for me when I was working on a first novel (still unpublished, but I do have a second one out there published…"

Thanks -- I look forward to hearing more from you.
Thanks for friending me!
