Thanks, Mary Lynn, for the friend invitation. I'm not totally new to She Writes, but I've just begun exploring the groups and learning more about the opportunities here. I look forward to "getting to know you" better.

thabk you very much Mary Lynn for the warm and friendly welcome to your group. I am glad to be here and look forward to following discussions and meeting people. I am awfully busy as you can imagine trying to market 12 freaking books at once! I have not really figured out how to do that yet. You are a little mislead about my publishing success...altho I DO have 12 books on the market, they are all self-published, and all in one year. I am a grandmother who has been writing for 20 years and sticking the manuscripts in the closet. So when I discovered affordable Createspace one year ago, I learned the system and started publishing! Its been a fun, interesting, and exhausting year and the work has just begun. What  I am doing now is remembering my priorities. My real work is psychic research and I must continue to work. But I can devote some time to marketing and am doing so...but you know, if I really devote myself to marketing, it makes me unhappy. Its like being a part of a ravenous pack of wolves all fighting for the same piece of meat. There has to be a better way, and there is..so I am working to stay there. To produce work of real value is the way to attract people. thank you again for your welcome.Sarah

Thank you very much for the warm welcome.  I look forward to learning more about the group.  I do have Facebook although I haven't figured out how to use it with anything, e.g., my blog.  I don't use Twitter yet; I'm still figuring out how to use it for something more valuable than what I ate for breakfast.  No doubt there are ladies here who'll have thoughts on that.

I've been blogging for a little bit longer than it looks.  I moved from Blogger because it was making my life miserable; I moved my favorite posts and killed that one.  Sorry if the move makes it more difficult for anyone to follow; I'll at least be able to write more often.

MaryLynne, We're delighted to have you in the novelist group! You might introduce yourself by telling us what you’re working on in the “Show Me Your Novel and I’ll Show You Mine” discussion if you're not too uncomfortable talking about what you're working on. We save the wall for discussion, so please refrain from linking to blog posts there, but do add them in the “Links to Helpful Blog Posts for Writers” discussion thread.

And we do a live chat on Fridays at 3EST; instructions on how to participate are in the "Our Water Cooler" box near the top of the group page.

Hi Marylynne,

I would very much be interested in having you as a guest on my blog Literary Legs (http://literarylegs.blogspot.com). I've received such a strong show of interest from others in participating in author interviews that I've decided to do two interviews per month. Even so, spaces have filled up quickly, and I won't be able to fit you in until the end of April. If you're still interested in participating around that time, I would love to host you! Shoot me an email at laurapage_@hotmail.com.

Best,

Laura Page

Hi MaryLynn,

Thanks for being my friend back! I'll keep my fingers crossed for your book. I think at this stage everything just takes a lot of time, but it's worth if it means you end up with people who love your work and 'get' you. I've had a couple of near misses that were devastating at the time, but now I am so glad those rejections came through. They would have sent me in a direction I would not have been comfortable with, and so would have failed, and one was just far too soon.

Hang on in there!

You may regret saying that...LOL I actually do need help on my "2nd" book, Touch; about the healer. I've written 27 chapters so far...but I'm kinda stuck on some of the "reality" elements in ch 3...

I'm in the (painful) process of editing my first book, a christian drama/romance. That's basically my genre...I'm also writing two others right now....one is a strong christian story; the other doesn't have a lot of christian elements...yet.

My novel (Caroline) is about a girl who has had a rough 16 years. She's been sexually abused by her dad, was raped, and is pregnant (from the rape). She meets David, who is convinced it is his job to protect her and help her raise her child. She fights him every step of the way, even though she's fallen in love with him...hard. Of course, he's loved her from the moment they met...

My other books are about a man who finds that he has the gift of healing and a wedding tradition that involves being separated from your fiancee for (I haven't decided the time yet) and what happens when the bride-to-be falls in love with the groom's best friend...

I still haven't figured out why I write romance...I hate the whole concept...

Sounds interesting, MaryLynn. I will admit that I'm not familiar with animal-type stories...nor is it my 'comfort genre', but I'd like to give your book a shot and step out of my box. I'd also like to know what exactly you're looking for in a beta reader...

Pardon my lack of knowledge, and though I've seen this term used before, I'm not quite sure what is meant by a "beta reader."  But I will tell you that I've seen people ask for one on this site; I just never knew what they were talking about.  Basically, you can inquire in any of the groups you join. If you're working on writing a book, they're are groups for folks like you, and you can put out a public question there.  Good luck!

Hi MaryLynn, I see you've already joined some groups and made a few friends.  It's just the beginning and groups are the best way to find writers with similar interests.  Glad to see you're making the most of your She Writes experience!

Do artistic rituals have the power to transform? Is all intentional art a ritual?

Today a mandala ritual was posted by Maureen Doallas, link to her blog below: To kick off this discussion, let me explain the intention of this art/ritual from the Tibetan Buddhist tradition.  Prayers are said throughout the building of the mandala,…See More
