Kamy,
It was nice of you to inform me about the gift thing personally,I really appreciate it.
Wondering, really what made you think of making this site,
And thankful you did not let that thought weather away,
And started this amazing place which not only empowers every woman who is writing but also who's not,
Happy that there exists such a place and even happier to have joined it,
Sagarika
Hi Kamy,
I guess you never got my comment on Francine Prose's new book on Anne Frank. I wanted to thank you for this important notice. Even before her reading event I had already devoured the book and tried to tell everyone through a comment to your announcement how fascinating I found the experience. (Sometimes comments on She Writes seem to get lost somewhere in cyberspace.) I did not know that Anne Frank had reworked her diary with the thought of publication! I love the way Francine Prose drives a passionate argument for Anne's quality as an unusually gifted, true writer. I love her conviction that the diary is so much more than just "a diary of a young girl". And I particularly like her mention of Cynthia Ozicks "searing essay" in the New Yorker, in 1997. The essay, "Who Owns Anne Frank?" accused playwrights, producers and publishers who "infantilized, Americanized, homogenized, sentimentalized, falsified, kitschified, and, in fact, blatantly and arrogantly denied" the true qualities of Anne and her diary. Anne Frank deserves such passion. How many of us have started writing by writing a diary -- in the footsteps of Anne Frank? I sure have.
Kamy, how do I find out about the next NYC Salon gathering? I would love to attend. I'll be reading in NYC on Nov. 2nd at the NYC Public Library - Mid-Manhattan Branch - 40th and 5th, 6th fl. Will be posting soon. Would love to meet you. Thanks for all the good you're doing here. Julie
Kamy, I had a great time @ the salon the other evening. I now am also reading Hope Edelman's fantastic book (her prose is incredible). Looking forward to the next one. I'm currently talking to agents, so hopefully I'll have good news by the next gathering. Hope springs eternal. Thanks for organizing such a great event
Hi Kamy, I would like to join the memoir group. I'm not sure how to do this...I'm new to Shewrites. Could you let me know when you have a chance? Thank you!
I'd love to know what you come up with. 'Notes From the Underground' is, I believe, a polemic, not a story. It's like 'The Metamorphosis' in that it has no context... not really... I guess I mean a story STORY with a plot, not a rant. (I admire Dostoyevsky; don't get me wrong). But even 'War and Peace' is, famously, not about war OR peace but about the people from families who cause them. BTW, i have a hard time with this site, which is why I seem not to answer things? I just have trouble getting around it! So, hi to EVERYONE who writes me. I got lucky being able to post this!

Very nice to meet you. I look forward to the She Writes family... learning and sharing with other writers!
I feel right at home here. I interviewed Christina Baker Kline for Writer Advice, www.writeradvice.com and I'll be reviewing Hope Edelman's new book for the winter issue.
I love watching this group grow and offer more and more. How can I help?

Thanks so much for your message! I'm just getting familiar with SheWrites and apologies your way for being slow on the uptake here. I've seen Jennifer Marguile's name but do not know her. However, you must have connected us as she has messaged me as well, asking to co-host an event. Excellent and thank you! More soon. I appreciate your thoughtfulness. - Suz
we had a great time at KGB--fabulous crowd. Anything that can be done to promote events is good but people are inundated with announcements. Maybe run a short audio from each author?
Hi there, Kamy. The Complete Idiot's Guide to Getting Published is now in its fourth edition, and is a really straight ahead explanation of the publishing world and how writers can best fit in. Am having fun now writing a book about "how to write about your mother." Yes, really. Because you know every single on of us really is!
I'm thrilled to see this site. So much of of what I read (and write) is informed by my family's life. But I told a suspense class recently, ALL novels are novels about families and she bet 1,000 conference goers $100 that they could not give an example of a novel that was not based on a family. She's still waiting to give away the $100.
Hey Kamy, I can't find your email though I know we've already corresponded. I am pretty new at all this social networking stuff and I was wondering if there's a way to post a link to a controversial op-ed I published in yesterday's paper? Here's the link: http://www.dailytidings.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20090826/OPINION03/908260308
Hi wise ladies,I am a travel writer based in SF. I am in the last stages of editing my YA travel book (it's fiction) and wanted to know the proper channels to bring this baby to life. With my publishing credits (5 guidebooks, and a slew of articles…See More
