Dear Victoria, I was very moved by your piece Modern Love, which I sought out after your appearance on the morning show as I happened to flip through the channels. It was of particular intrigue to me as 12 years ago my husband of 8 yrs left me when I was 4 months pregnant with our first child. There are more details about my journey I would love to share with you. I published my story in a compilation devotional and also went through a journey of forgiveness. I can truly say God has made "beauty from ashes". I have been married to a wonderful man for 10 years. I would love to correspond with you and share our journeys. God bless you and Judah. You made the right choice. Forgiveness is the gift you give yourself--when you release yourself from the bitterness of someone who has offended you and hurt you. It frees your heart to love again.
I'm so glad you were free to make the choices to make, and were not under duress or obligation. You are full of grace. What a great thing it is when life gives us more than we deserve, and we are able to do likewise to someone else. You created a legacy of love. What a wise, wise thing to do, especially under the circumstances.
What an incredibly moving and beautifully written column in Modern Love. I'm the mother of a 15-month old and I'm full of admiration your compassion and wisdom in making the choice you did. You're also a great writer. Thank you for sharing that story with the world. // amy
I just read your article in the Times, Modern Love... outstanding! outstanding! I love the way you wrote that without self pity and yet with such pathos for all those who bravely continue to do what's right even though 'rights' are no longer relevant. What a woman!
Victoria, what a lovely boost of courage and inspiration on a Friday afternoon I got from reading your modern love column. Thank you so much and I look forward to more conversations - whether they be about preschool or not :)
Hi Victoria, It's lovely to see you here. We were traveling over the New Year so I am so glad to see your Modern Love column here. It's a great one.--Anne Fernald
Welcome to Mother Writer! Please stop in and introduce yourself to the group. I read your article in the NYT. It is very touching, though I don't know if I would be brave enough to make the same decision. Thinking of it from your son's point of view, I believe you made the right one. Thank you for your honesty and engaging story. If there is anything I can do for you just drop a line.
Victoria: What a wonderful, moving, thoughtful Modern Love column today. Thank you for your bravery, honesty, and wisdom. Brava! And for anyone else reading this, do check it out, if you haven't already. With every good wish, Sarah.
"Congratulations on your two books ~ I look forward to finding and reading them. I'm from Northeast Massachusetts, and am happy to find another East Coast writer here. Be well, and be busy!"
"I love this! Old age writing meets new age communication. I tweet regularly and often find myself hesitating before sending tweets off into the twitterverse. Sharing our lives on social media has become the norm, but how much is too much? What are…"
